Energy Efficiency Opportunities Act 2006 (EEO)

The Australian Government Department of Industry, Tourism and Resources has introduced a program of energy saving opportunities that encourages large energy using businesses to identify, evaluate and then implement cost-effective energy saving opportunities.
Teys is a participant in the EEO program and has used the framework provided to enhance existing sustainability and energy saving programs which have been implemented by the Company consistent with its participation in the Greenhouse Challenge Plus Program.
Teys is required as part of its obligations under the EEO program to provide its 1st public report by the end of the 2008 Calender Year.

Environmental Performance Indicators

Key factors in environmental performance include protection of our waterways, waste management and energy efficiency. Selected indicators enable us to identify trends in environmental performance and rectify potential environmental impacts associated with plant operations.

Water Protection

Teys adheres to a zero environmental impact policy on waterways and pursues the sustainable disposal of nutrients and waste water through irrigation for pasture and tree growth. Maximum recycled water use saves on demand for fresh potable water.

Recycling

Teys is continually looking for ways to conserve water, waste, electricity and resources under the mantra of ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’.

Regulated Waste

Regulated waste is managed in strictly controlled environments.

Research & Development

Research and Development is ongoing within Teys in industrial wastewater treatment and other areas.

Chemicals

All chemicals are stored and disposed of in the approved manner.

Greenhouse Gas

Teys is a voluntary member of the Greenhouse Challenge Plus Program and submits data annually to the Greenhouse Office in the form of a report.
