Apprenticeships

Along with our meat processing traineeships, Teys also engages a number of apprentices each year in the areas of Electrical Mechanic and Mechanic Fitter.

All training is provided in accordance with all apprenticeship requirements as set down in legislation. Qualifications issued are nationally recognised and fully transportable.

Generally apprenticeships are for four years, however depending on the skills and qualifications of individuals, some may be able to complete apprenticeships early.

Traineeships

Our Meat Processing traineeships are completed in 12 months and trainees are paid as they work and learn. There are, however, a number of traineeships that may be delivered over two years due to the highly technical nature of some of the skills being obtained.

Qualifications that can be obtained are:

Certificate 2: Meat Processing (Labouring, Packing, Rendering Basic, other); and

Certificate 3: Meat Processing (Boner, Slicer, Slaughter person, Rendering Advanced, Laboratory Assistant, other).

All traineeship training is conducted in accordance with training requirements required by legislation. All qualifications are nationally recognised and fully transportable.

School-based Traineeships

Students, teachers, parents or schools can approach the company at any time and ask for consideration for a School-based traineeship.

School-based traineeships are a three-party agreement and are usually run over one to two years. The three-party agreement is between the School, Employer and Student (Parents/Guardians sign off as well), and has numerous conditions with which all parties are to comply.

School guidance officers would be able to assist you with information on school-based traineeships, or alternatively contact the Teys facility in your local area or town (go to Contact Us on this website).
